Laptop and Wifi to go Services: Wifi Specifics

• The checkout period is three (3) days.
• The borrower must return the device along with accessories to the library at the end of the checkout period at least thirty (30) minutes before the library is scheduled to close.
• The borrower must sign the Natchitoches Parish Library WiFi to go Checkout Agreement before he/she can take a device away from the library.
• The borrower must present a valid library card and a valid driver’s license or other valid identification card at the time of checkout.
• At the time of checkout, the device will be inspected by a staff member to make sure it is intact and functioning properly.
• Portable Internet devices (Verizon Jetpack MiFi) are not renewable.
• There is a one (1) week waiting period per household between checkouts.

• Borrowers must be over the age of 18.
• Devices may only be checked out by a Natchitoches Parish Library adult patron with a valid Natchitoches Parish Library card.
• Borrowers must have a library record in good standing (i.e. overdue books or outstanding charges) for at least six (6) months.
• Borrowers must agree to the terms of checkout by signing a WiFi to go Checkout Agreement.
• At the time of checkout, borrowers must present a valid: 
  • Natchitoches Parish Library card,
  • Louisiana driver’s license or state issued identification card. 

• A library staff member should verify that the device and all accessories are in good working order.
• Devices are to be returned to the library on the due date at least thirty (30) minutes before closing.
• Devices should not be left unattended at the counter or placed in the bookdrop or overnight drop box.

What will happen if I break or lose the Portable Internet device (Verizon Jetpack MiFi)?

• A patron’s privilege to check out a portable Internet device (Verizon Jetpack MiFi) may be removed for a period of time if the patron fails to return loaned equipment by the due date on more than one occasion or leaves before the check-in procedure is complete.
• If a device is not returned on time, a fine of $10 per day will be assessed. Devices not returned within three (3) days after the due date will be considered non-returned and turned over to the police as stolen.
• Charges for physical damage to or loss of a portable Internet device (Verizon Jetpack MiFi) or accessories are as follows:
  • Portable Internet device (Verizon Jetpack MiFi) = $50.00
  • Carrying case = $12.99
  • Charger = $15.00
  • USB charging cable = $15.00
• The borrower is responsible for making sure that the device is in working order and without physical damage when it is checked out.
• Under no circumstances should a borrower leave the device unattended.  The library will not be responsible for a lost or stolen device.
• Borrowers assume full responsibility and fiscal liability for all costs associated with damage to the device or accessories during the period it is checked out, or the replacement costs should items be lost or stolen.

What do I do if I have problems?

• If patrons experience problems with a device, they should report them to the library staff.

• Borrowers should not attempt to troubleshoot the device.

• Each portable Internet device (Verizon Jetpack MiFi) provides simultaneous wireless Internet access for up to fifteen (15) WiFi-enabled devices, including laptops, tablets, gaming consoles, cameras, music players, phones, and more.
• Borrowers may not alter any settings or otherwise change the existing configurations on the device.
• Devices will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved in advance.
• An eligible borrower is only allowed to borrow one device at a time.
• The password for each device is located on an informational card inside each carrying case. The password can also be found by turning the device on and choosing the WIFI NAME/PASSWORD option.
